6 PJ Neighbourhood Spaces Making Retail Fun Again

We've all been there — walking through the same malls, the same chain stores, the same layout you could navigate with your eyes closed.

But step into PJ's neighbourhoods, and it's a completely different story.

These independent spaces are run by locals who wanted to build something real for the community.

If you are ready for a more intentional weekend wander, add these six neighbourhood spots to your radar.

PJ Neighbourhood Spaces
Stickerrific

Stickerrific

In a world that moves incredibly fast, Stickerrific is a warm invitation to slow down. Located in Jaya One, this cosy space is a sanctuary for anyone into tactile hobbies like journaling and calligraphy.

The first thing you do is take off your shoes at the entrance, and you’ll probably notice the lovely resident rescue cats wandering around the floor.

Inside, you’ll find premium notebooks, fine fountain pens, and a massive wall of rubber stamps and washi tapes. Jom, check it out and say hi to the felines!

Weird Space

Tucked on the second floor of a quiet shoplot, this one is easy to miss, but you'll want to spend hours here once you find it.

Weird Space feels less like a shop and more like a nostalgic 90s living room straight out of a Wong Kar-Wai film.

True to their motto, "Fashion is fun! Be yourself, be weird, anything goes!”, it’s a refreshing change from your usual retail store, packed to the brim with preloved apparel, old-school electronics, and quirky vintage furniture.

It’s the ultimate spot to hunt for random knick-knacks you swear you once saw at your nenek’s house.

Looop Damansara Kim

Looop Damansara Kim

If you think thrifting means digging through dusty, unorganised piles, LOOOP will completely change your mind.

This Damansara Kim neighbourhood spot treats preloved clothing with absolute respect.

Locals rent out rack space to sell their personal wardrobes, complete with handwritten tags sharing the story behind each piece.

The curation here is strict, so don't expect fast-fashion clutter. Instead, you'll find well-kept statement pieces and throwback streetwear that look brand new.

Ilaika Select Store

Ilaika is a gallery-style general store and a launchpad for local Malaysian creators — home-grown fashion, eco-friendly skincare, and artisan ceramics all under one roof.

Fun fact: it started as a simple overflow space for a nearby eatery before completely transforming into what it is today.

Oh, and One Half, a world-class specialty coffee roaster, shares the same building. So... why not grab a cup while you're there?

Amcorp Mall

No guide to PJ curation is complete without paying respect to the OG.

Every weekend, the ground floors of Amcorp Mall transform into a treasure trove for collectors of all things antique and vintage.

Evolving over nearly three decades, this flea market is a living time capsule packed with vinyl records, vintage watches, old-school cameras, and rare Malaysian memorabilia. The joy lies entirely in the hunt.

Go early, take your time, and remember: some antique owners prefer to skip the small talk and go straight to business.

Zontiga

This is the go-to spot for PJ's film photography crowd. You know those vintage, grainy photos you see on Instagram and wonder how people get that look? That's film photography, and Zontiga is where PJ's analog enthusiasts come to develop and process their rolls.

They've also made it really convenient by placing 24-hour dropboxes and film vending machines right around the neighbourhood, so you can drop off a roll whenever.

Plus, they spotlight independent creators through indie photobooks, annual contests, and community projects.

If you've ever been curious about film photography, this is a good place to start.

PJ has always had this kind of energy — independent, homegrown, and always building something worth paying attention to.

Honestly? This list is just the beginning. There's always something new opening, something old becoming a favourite, and something unexpected waiting to be found.

So, go explore. Pick a spot and see what PJ's neighbourhoods have been up to.
